Frangipane Tarts!

Yet again I'm blogging about baking so this means I'm staying at Tom's!  It's literally the only time I bake. I know I'm not very fashion/beauty orientated but I haven't had many ideas, sorry!
We decided on something a little different this time around, we got bored of flapjack so we decided on Frangipanes, which is basically loads of mixture put into a tart base with a load of jam added. They taste absolutely amazing, first time I've ever had them and wow. Fresh out of the oven red hot - nothing better! So here I will tell you what you need to and how to make them :)

What You Will Need
6 small but deep shortcrust pastry cases // 1 egg // 100g ground almonds
100g butter // 90g caster sugar // 1 orange (we didn't add this, we didn't have one)
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract or paste // about half a jar of good quality jam
1 tub of cream (if wanted) to serve
So first we weighed out all of our ingredients and put them all in a bowl together. We the cracked an egg and together with the extract we whisked them together and added it to the mix. While doing this we also set out our pastry cases, (we only had 5 left over from the pack) on a baking tray because we would need them as soon as everything was mixed together.
After everything had been mixed together we spooned a small amount of jam into the bottom of the pastry cases and remember to spread it out evenly.
After this we spooned in a small amount of the mixture onto of the jam in the cases and also smoothed this out carefully.
We then added more jam onto of this layer and then more of the mix. Now they were ready for the oven! Bake them at 180 for about 18 minutes until they are golden brown.
(Don't worry about the mess on the bottom left, we had left over mixture so we plonked some jam in the middle and well, this happened).
Anyway this was the finished result! They don't look amazing and yes they bubbled over slightly, but they tasted amazing. Especially if they had been left to cool for around 15 minutes yet they were still warm inside and basically melted in your mouth. For anyone who's an avid baker of just likes to try new things I full recommend you make some of these! They are easy and simple and taste amazing.  Also we got the recipe out of Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals :)

What's your favorite to bake?
And if not, what's your favorite dessert?

Thank You!

Thank you dearly, to each and everyone of my followers and commenter's it means the world to me and I've finally reached 50 followers. I'm so happy and also it means I can start the giveaway! Which will officially start on Monday at 12:30pm. Today is going to be a little more of a personal blog post because I haven't seen my dad in a long time and I had a lovely day.

Today I went to see my dad which I haven't done for the past few weeks and of course my gorgeous little brother. A new toy store recently opened in my town - Symth's toy store and it was the grand opening today so before going back to my dad's out of town we thought we'd pop in for a look :)
How adorable is he? He's 4 next year and he's just getting into the whole superhero phase, I can't wait till I can buy him action figures and comic books! :D
Also I had a little spending spree of my own, I just couldn't help myself.
cosmo - £2 // underworld & contraband - blockbuster (rented) // gourmet jelly beans mmmh! for 95p too!

Whenever I go to my dads he always likes to go rent a few films and buy me and Joshua a few sweets and today we even decided to bake. Now these ones didn't turn out as well as I hoped, they were only part of a packet mix but Joshua really wanted to do them.
the ingredients we used
packet mix  & icing sugar - morrisons // eggs - morrisons
we also made the butter cream icing ourselves from this site
Now I know they don't like that amazing, the icing was a little runny and very yellow but he wanted to decorate the buns with sprinkles so we did so :) They do taste quite yummy though! And I did have a lovely day. I ended up watching the film 'Puss in Boot's' in-between baking and I have to admit, it's a really good kiddy film! I'll get around to doing my Friday wishlist either later or tomorrow and then I'll do my 'you' challenge later too :)

Just reminder to all my followers, the giveaway starts on Monday and again thank you!

Cheap Stores are a Girls Best Friend!

Literally! And I don't mean 'cheap stores' as in really cheap shops I mean places like Poundland and Savers where you can get products, clothing and jewelry for sometimes half the price of an expensive high street store. So today I had a little shopping spree and when I say small I mean tiny. Just a quick whip round my city center for some essentials I've been searching for.
Aapri Exfoliating Pillows
Now for the past week I have searched high and low for these little things, I've been in pretty much every cosmetic and pharmacy shop in my city this week and I finally found them! At one point I even resorted to going on eBay/Amazon for them but they were trying to charge £4 a packet, no way! I found out about these from Ali's blog and I just HAD to try them out for myself because they seem so good. Best of all I got these babies for £1.50!

Tee Tree Face Wipes by icare
Yet again as with make up I'm not big on spending a lot of money on skin care products and I picked these wipes up for 45p, such a bargain I just need to test them out.

Big Blue Rose Ring - Primark
I am a sucker for big rings, especially anything with roses/flowers on them. I could easily have bought this ring in 3 other colors but I just had to stop myself, it only cost me £2 as well, I love Primark!

Also like the little fatties we are me and Tom did more baking, I know it's really bad but we had all these left over ingredients that I just wanted to get rid off :-( But it's okay we made scones and they tasted amazing! I promise to do an outfit post tomorrow of what I wore today though, my dress is just too cute.

More Baking!

Now I really wanted to post last but I had been ever so busy all day and when I got back home me and my boyfriend then went out to tea and then to cinema and didn't get back till about 2am (we walked home) however we did go and see Ted which was a really good film and we ended up going straight to bed yawn! However we did get up early enough today and did some more baking, we seem to be doing an awful lot but I think it's because we can because his mum isn't in to tell us off :') Anyway we made shortbread and flapjack! They taste incredible too.

I promise later on when I get back to my own house I'll do a proper ~beauty post~ I just haven't had the time the last couple of days :-(

Late Night Snacking

Okay so last night, (yes it was about 11pm) me and Tom decided we would make flap jack and while they were cooking, watch The Butterfly Effect. So that's why we did!

Our Ingredients
5/6 table spoons of golden syrup
200g of butter
330g of porridge oats

Okay so first we melted the butter and the syrup together till there were no more lumps on the stove, we went from a high heat to a low heat when there were little lumps left so the syrup didn't burn.
After everything had melted we then made a little well in the middle of the oats and as Tom poured the hot mixture in I stirred the oats into it so everything mixed together. After we finished this we put it in a square tin lined with greased backing paper and smoothed the whole mixture over.
Then 25 minutes later at a heat just under 200° we took the mixture out (it was a golden brown) and we cut the flapjacks into 4x4 squares giving us 12 pieces and remember cut the flapjack before it cools.
Look how yummy it looks! It was nice and crunchy on the top and when it was still warm on the inside very gooey and warm, we think it's out best attempt yet (our first one didn't have enough syrup :c ) We then ate about 5 pieces between us watching the end of our film, definitely a good late night snack!
