Summer Reading List & Update

Hello guys,
It seems I'm back from a very long holiday, or so it seems. My personal life as well as college caught up with me and well me being lazy I just didn't bother. It didn't help that I had lost my way with blogging. However I AM BACK! I have returned with a new blog design (which I love) and hopefully a new direction with blogging. I felt as if before I left it was just makeup everything and I was getting bored, I mean I love makeup yet hate reviewing it because I don't wear it every single day. Meaning my direction comes in the form of book posts (which I'm trying to do more of), OOTD posts (as now I have my own place!!) and just normal everyday lifestyle posts. Don't get me wrong, I will still talk about beauty it just won't be all the time as I'm not actually buying that much makeup anymore.

I have so many posts I want to share with you, including a tour of my very own flat and the weekend I spent away in Peterborough, but for now I'm going to give you a taste of what I'm going to be reading this summer!

Apocalypse Now Now By Charlie Human
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantle
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin

Also including some kindle books I just haven't had chance to read (I'm trying to save up for the HD fire)... I haven't included many on this list as I'm slowly getting myself back into reading as I haven't done very much this year. Hopefully when September rolls around this list will be complete and I'll have had to make a second post for all the other books I've read! As I seem to have tons of spare time and spend most of it in bed... so I may as well start picking up a book again.

50 Books That Will Change Your Life - I'm Back!

Hello guys & girls, I'm back!
So it seems I went missing for quite a few months, it seems college and work got the better of me again! However I'm going up to my A2 exams and in 3 months time college will be over (yay!!). Anyway, I saw this post on Hayley's blog and I though I just had to do it, I always love finding new books to read and I though the best way to restart off 'ellelouisee' was to be with something I love.
.

Books that will scare you
Wasp Factory by Iain Banks
The Rats by James Herbert
The Shinning by Stephen King
1984 by George Orwell
Lord Loss by Darren Shan

1/5
Wow, that is really bad. I'm not a massive fan of scary books, I'll only read Stephen King however I really do want to give 1984 a try.

Books that will teach you about love
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Forever by Judy Blume
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

4/6
I'm pretty impressed with myself on this one woop! I love classics so Jane Eyre and P&P were not a problem for me. I read Twilight when I was about 12(?) and it was terrible. Anne Frank's diary forever to me will be something I can re-read, it really is an amazing piece of literature and history. I don't really care for Judy Blume seeing as she wrote awful children's books!

Books that will make you laugh
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy  by Douglas Adams
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison
Geek Girl by Holly Smale
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend

2/6
I've read Adrian Mole and also Angus & Thongs (as well as the whole series) both books being brilliant. I've been wanting to read the Hitchhiker's Guide for a while and the other two sound very interesting. However I will not be picking up Diary of a Wimpy Kid - sounds way too childish for me...

Books that will transport you
The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman
Percy Jackson (series) by Rich Riordan
Harry Potter (series) by J.K.Rowling
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

4/6
I've read the Great Gatsby (A2 Lit) and the full Northern Lights series, both of which I fully enjoyed. The Harry Potter series and LOTR books are both at the top of my list which I do re-read probably twice a year (oops), so yeah I really like this category! I really want to read Life of Pi too.

Books that will change the way you think
Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
A Streetcat Named Bob by James Bowen
Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusack

4/7
That isn't too bad, however the books I have read in this one (aside from Perks) I read about 3 years ago, so I can't actually remember them... However Noughts & Crosses is part of a great series. This category also has a few on my to read list which I'm desperate to start which are Wonder and The Book Thief.

Books that will make you cry
Before I Die by Jenny Downham
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
War Horse by Micheal Morpurgo
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audret Niffengger
My Sister's Keeper by Jodie Picoult
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
The Colour Purple by Alice Walker

3/7
The only book out of these ones that actually made me cry was My Sister's Keeper so yeah... Of Mice & Men (GCSE English) just annoyed me rather than upset me and the Time Traveler's Wife I haven't actually read I've just seen the film did nothing for me either. I can't help but wonder why The Fault in Our Stars isn't here, I cried for the last 2 chapters.

Books that will help you to understand
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The Outsider's by S.E. Hinton
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
I Captured the Castle by Dodie Smith

1/5
Wow, the section was bad for me... I guess I don't like upsetting books? The only one I've read was the Fault in Our Stars, which I cried buckets at but will always re-read. The others are on my to read list but not near the top.

Books that will thrill you
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Gone by Micheal Grant
Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
Divergent by Veronica Roth

4/7
This section contains some of my favorites such as The Hunger Games and City of Bones (full series is faaab). I've also read the Skulduggery books, kind of for kids but I still enjoyed them. I've seen the film for Clockwork Orange so that counts right considering it's such a hard book to read. I also want to read the only I haven't so yeah, hello to read list!

Ultimate Score: 23/30
Wow, that's rather bad considering how much I love books ha! I'm definitely going to make more of an effort this year to read the rest of this list as they all sound rather interesting. Have you guys read any of these books? Tell me your opinions, I love talking books!

January - June Reading Wrap Up!

So I did start to write the books I've current read into blog posts for my Goodread's reading challenge this year but I kept forgetting about them and sometimes I didn't read as much and those posts slowly went out of the window... until now! I've decided to take a different approach - of filming a video! At the end of the month I will gather together the books I have read that month and 'mini review' them all for you on my YouTube, However today i bring you all of the books I've read between January and the end of June.
I hope you enjoy this video and massive thanks to Hayley for inspiring me to do this (she's started it herself here!)

A-Z of me: C

C is for Classics

Yes I am sorry, another letter dedicated to books! I was going to go with chicken as I love Nando's and Mcdonald's share boxes but I didn't really know what to say and I had no pictures to share, so my love of classic books came next! :)
 photo DSC_7761_zpsb4278b79.jpg
I don't have a massive collection and most of them are either secondhand or Penguin's classics but I aim to get them all with pretty colours hopefully by the end of this year! I tend to pick them up cheaply because after all their old and I don't want to fork out £8/9 (stingy!!) however these ones were all gifts 3 of which I've read, only Crime & Punishment to go!
 photo DSC_7762_zpsf70a32d2.jpg
Now these ones are much prettier. The black over ones are from a cheap bookshop in Beverly I think there were around £2.99 each, bargain! I haven't actually read any of these yet I tried The Moonstone a couple on months ago but I had other books I wanted to get my teeth into so I cast it aside, however they all sound pretty amazing!
 photo DSC_7763_zpsc52070d0.jpg
I have to admit this baby is my favorite! I got bought Oliver Twist, Frankenstein and Dracula all at the same time and this is the one I went for first. I read it once and in the past few months after I read it another 3 times, I just love it. I love the idea of old traditional vampires and this one just stuck with me. I'm even planning on writing my A2 Language coursework on it as a contrast in horror novels, I'm excited!
 photo DSC_7767_zpsb5e71ad1.jpg
This is another favorite of mine, I bought this when I was around 13 and I just couldn't read it, I went back to is last year and I haven't looked back. I love the new film release as well, it's just a wonderful romance story. It does loose it's story slightly in the middle but it gets pulled back and the ending is fabulous. Another favorite which I need to buy a physical copy of is Pride and Prejudice, I could watch and read the story over and over and never tire of it.
 photo DSC_7768_zps36bf6332.jpg
I even have a folder dedicated to classics on my kindle for when I'm on the go. I do need to read my way through quite a few of them and I will eventually buy them. I just love owning books!

What's your favorite 'classic' book?

A-Z of Me: B

B is for Books

I read a lot of books. A hell of a lot. Last year I made a goal to read 50... this year my goal is 70! I have always been an avid reader though, since being a little kid in primary school, I just couldn't get enough. Nowadays I will read almost anything whether it be fantasy, horror or crime. I will read the odd autobiography every now and then but it has to be cool, like Ozzy Osbourne for example.
 photo DSC_0039_zps23e11c24.jpg
My pride and glories (Harry Potter) obviously get the top shelf!
 photo DSC_0040_zps25bb2961.jpg
I like the smell of old books and of new books. I like hardback versions and I like paperbacks (their easier to carry!) I've read tons of books, most of them on my shelves I have actually read, however I keep buying and buying until well I've got no room left. I have a little box thing filled with 'to-read' books which is actually so full I have to put the left overs on my bookcase... eep.
 photo DSC_0042_zpsb3322bb8-1_zps9531bd66.jpg
Oops!
Did I mention I have even more 'older' books from my childhood I'm still clinging on too? I just can't get rid of my Lemony Snicket books! I just hope in years to come, I still enjoy reading as much as I do now! (I could have a library in my house ^.^ !)
You can also find me on Goodreads, drop me some recommendations I always want new books :)

Books - This or That? // Tag

I love taking part in tags and ones about books even more!
If you take part link me, I love reading peoples answers, (I'm nosy ^.^ !)

Audio books or book in hand?
I've never actually listened to an audio book before! I would love to own all of the HP books on audio but they are so darn expensive. I will eventually try them but there's no way you can beat a book in hand! Plus I love the feel of a physical book.

Soft or hard cover?
I absolutely adore hard backs! However they do get pretty pricey and are huge and heavy to carry around. Normal books I just buy in paperback but if it's a special one to me e.g. Casual Vacancy by J.K. I bought it in hardback, I guess it makes the book more special.

Fiction or non-fiction?
I haven't really read much non-fiction, it doesn't really interest me. I enjoy auto-biographies and certain books on psychology but fiction has the biggest library ever, there will always be so many books out there for me.

Fantasy word or real-life issues?
Fantasy is such a huge favorite of mine, I love loosing myself inside a fantasy world full of magic and myths. Their so much more exciting and I like books with real life issues but anything like LOTR and murder mysterious, right up my street!

Harry Potter or Twilight?
I love HP, die hard here! My mum use to read them to me and my brother when I was little and I've never forgotten that. However I did read the Twilight books and at first I loved them, I then grew up a bit and wondered why my interest had been so big! I just feel now the writing is terrible and just yuck! The Harry Potter books are ones that I will re-read all of the time and never get bored.

Kindle, iPad or other?
I have a Kindle from my Grandad and I do adore it, I can finish a book and start a new one already. However I love to have physical copies of books I feel it to be a waste of money to buy them on the Kindle as well, meaning most of my Kindle books are free!

Borrow or buy?
I've tried libraries and I love them because I find books I would never ever read, but I'll read a book and grow to love it and then I just want it. I prefer to buy and then read, if I don't like the book one of my family members probably will, we're all book mad!

Book store or by online?
I love visiting bookstores but we only have a Waterstones and it sure is expensive! Meaning Amazon is my best friend for new books, I really need to explore more and find cute little bookstore in my town, I love to browse books in my hands rather than online, I normally have a sneaky peek inside too. I tend to buy bookstore when I just 'need' the book and I just can't wait.

Standalone or series?
I really do love both, I love the idea of tons of books about the same characters I'm just impatient when waiting for publishing! I tend to randomly buy books and find out their part of a series. Sometimes it depends on my mood, I love both types but I guess I hate waiting around.

Monster read or short and sweet?
I love monster reads! Especially Stephen King novels, he sure knows how to write a killer in 600+ pages! More pages always means more to read, more character development and I just get lost. I do like short reads but I do tend to get a little bored..

Nerd Girl Problems
Starry eyed romance or full of action?
I like a book with a bit of both, things are always more interesting when girls are involved. Romance novels are sometimes good and I enjoy them but I tend to get bored if their stereo-typically mushy.

Curl up in your snuggie or lay in the sun?
I love curling up! With the English weather at the moment it's getting sunny but I'm not about to trust it, I can it pouring down with rain next week!

Hot chocolate or latte?
I'm so peculiar with hot drinks, I'll only drink sweet tea and I LOVE hot chocolate, however it has to be thick, creamy and very chocolaty  I could curl up with one of them, my boyfriend and a book and that would be a well deserved night in! ♡

Read the review or decide for yourself?
I hate to read book reviews because then I get put off a book despite really wanting to read it, it's the same with people's opinions. I prefer to read the book for myself and then check the reviews out, see if people agree or not. Plus I like to see what people think, reviews are always so much better afterwards!

I loved this tag quite a bit, it was about my favorite subject! I would love it if others joined in, I'd love to read all of your answers!

the books of 2013

A new year, a new set of books!
Last year I set myself a challenge of reading 50 books in one year which I managed to complete! Goodreads said I didn't but I had a read a few books before I joined Goodreads. However this year I have a new challenge; 70 books in one year! Now I'm an avid reader but for me this is a big challenge so wish me luck. I also told myself when buying new books I need to explore different genres more. So here are some of the books for the new year. (Mostly Christmas presents!)
Most of these I was bought for Christmas but some have been waiting on my shelves to be read. So this year I opted for a more organised reading kind of 'space'. I thought to myself "I really want somewhere I can put all of my unread books so I know I can always find them" and so I bought the gorgeous box from Matalan for £5 (I bought one for all my beauty products this year too!)

Of course I have lots of other books to read and buy but here's just a few on my list. A few I'm looking forward to are the Cassandra Clare books and Crime & Punishment :)

What's on your to-read list this year?

Book Challenge '12 #2

As you can see by my little widget for Goodreads in my sidebar I am now on 38 books out of 50, so not long to go now! I thought I'd share some of my most current reads with you and a small opinion. Most of my book reviews will be going up on the Bloggers Bookshelf blog (not fully running yet) but it will be soon! My first review is on November 2nd :)
His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman

This trilogy contains the books; Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife & The Amber Spyglass.
Now I read the first book of this trilogy as a small children of about 10 and never quite got on to reading the next two simply because people said they were 'too complicated' for me and now I do see what they meant. I finished reading these books about a week and a half ago and I literally sped through them. I ate them up rapidly, I absolutely adored these books. They were amazing, full of humour and love, crazy and scary situations and maybe even a 'is all hope lost moment?' and the plot does thicken quite a bit between the second and third book which makes me think, no these definitely aren't for children. The books are wonderfully complicated towards the end which made me enjoy them even more, however there is always a problem and this time it's the overall ending, lets just say I wasn't best pleased. However you could be 30 and love these books or my age 17 and devour them. All I have to say is if you haven't read them yet.. GO AHEAD! Honestly waste no time, they are an excellent read and something fantasy but in a whole new world.

At the moment I am currently reading  the Artemis Fowl books which yes again are for children but I believe can be enjoyed and loved by people of any age. My auntie is certainly not a teenager and even she rushed out for the supposed last book of this series, this is my second time of reading them and I'm enjoying them even more. Next on my list after this series is the brand spanking new book from JK Rowling which is  Casual Vacancy which I am genuinely so excited to read, I wonder how her writing style will differ with an adults book. I'll just have to wait and see!

Bloggers Bookshelf!

Hi there everyone! I'd just like to let you all know that the book blog I joined is now finally live, how exciting! Bloggers Bookshelf is a collaborative blog started by Erin & Ria all to do with books! They describe it like this:

"Blogger's Bookshelf was born out of a collective love of literature. The blog itself sprouted from ideas from creators Erin and Ria to form a community of like minded readers, who are bursting to share the stories they love (and hate!). From long novels to short stories, fantasy to gritty crime to fluffy chick lit to epic historical fiction. Books that span to cultures across the globe to those that hit issues closer to home. Getting lost in a book is escapism at it's finest and it's what everyone who contributes here thrives on."

I am so happy to be part of this blog! Not many of my close friends read and I haven't really come across many 'amazing' book blogs around here so being able to be a part of this one is truly amazing. I love reading, I'm a huge bookworm and have been since the age of about 10, it's what I do. I read on the way to college, on the way back, when I'm in bed, sometimes even walking down the street. (Bad I know!) I can get completely absorbed in a book and once it's finished it's almost as if it was real.

I read all sorts of genre from classics to horror and romance, you name it and it'll probably be on my to-read list. For my bit in this blog I am a 'regular' contributor which means I will be posting my reviews and recommendations every second Friday, my first review will be on Friday 2nd November which I'm really excited about! I'll probably talk about books I've loved and hated, my absolute favorites and what I'm currently reading. Winter's here which means Christmas soon so I'll be welcoming lots of new books and lots of reading time. I hope you can join us over at Bloggers Bookshelf give us a quick look and even a bookmark. First post is coming up on the 29th of this month so get yourself over there, I'll guarantee you'll enjoy it.

I hope you all have had a wonderful start to your week  : )

Book Challenge '12 #1

Now if you have me as a friend on Goodreads or have seen my little widget below on my sidebar you'll know that for this year I've set myself a little challenge of reading 50 books and I'm over half way there with 32 on my 'read list' and I thought I'd share a little update with you all on what I've been reading.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I am a huge fan of classics! But I never really got around to reading this on because I never though much of it. I was so wrong. Now I read this book on my kindle and I absolutely adored it. I first watched the film with Keira Knightley and I absolutely loved it. I loved the fact Mr Darcy chased her yet it didn't seem like it. It was so amazing and I just loved their connection in the book. Despite it taking it's time to get going because I'd watched the film I got to know the characters more in depth when reading the book and also I already knew the characters so it was just lovely to see the full book play out with added bits that wasn't in the film.

By Light Alone by Adam Roberts
This one I didn't set on reading, this one I just picked up out of the library one day needing something to read on the bus home from town. But from chapter one I was hooked, it's set in the future but a very different future to what modern day is. I found it rather peculiar but so interesting  it only came out this year too! The ending was rather abrupt and (thinking it was an older book) I thought it was a bad way to end it, however only being released late this year I am so hoping for a second book!

One Day by David Nicholls
I've heard ton's of reviews about this book, some hated it and some loved it. I however loved it apart from the ending. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone but let me just say, it was heartbreaking. However it was a beautiful love story between two people meant to be together however they take their time about it. It was set between different time periods and you got POV's from both characters which was a lovely mix up. I loved this book I just didn't like the end, I think it spoilt it.

I do tend to ramble on a little bit when talking books so I thought I'd only do three books with their own little reviews. I hope to give you a summary on my recently read books every time I read three new ones or maybe even a few more, depending on how I'm feeling. Currently on my to read list is His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman which I've already started and I'm so excited for, so be on the lookout for my review of those three books!

Beauty Vs Brains - Tag (loooong)

Source
Okay so I saw this on Helen's blog and also Ali's blog (who are both amazing by the way!) and I thought 'Oh man I HAVE  to try this!' so here I am, I always love doing stuff like this, mainly the filling in bit so I hope you enjoy! Apparently it was originally from 'Sprinkle of Glitter's youtube' channel and I love nosying at people's responses so I thought people might have liked to see mine so here we are. It tells you to tag people so I tag all of my readers/followers, I want to have a little nosy at your posts so go ahead and do it!
And away we go..
What is your favorite book?
Man this is such a hard one, because I love books of all genres so I think I may have to say a few! I adore the 'Girl with a Dragon Tattoo;' trilogy by Stieg Larsson, I adore nearly all of Stephen King's book but also Dracula! It was one of the first, truly good vampire books I had ever read and I could read it over and over and still love it. I love it that much I'm contemplating doing my Lit coursework on it!
What motto's do you like saying a lot?
Well to be quote honest I don't think I actually have any 'mottos' there are certain lines of books I really enjoy such as;
"Not all those who wander are lost."
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
"To the well -organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." - of of my favorites!
"There is more treasure in books then in all the pirates loot on treasure island."
I pretty much missed the aim of this question but these quotes mean a lot to me and I think 'influence' me quite a bit in my life. I also really adore the one Helen used - "It's not the ending unless it's happily ever after."

Which do you prefer: English or Maths?
English! All the way, I hate the way maths messes with your mind because there will always be one right answer whereas in English you can have so many different answers and interpretations. Also ever since being little I've always wanted to write.  Hence double English at A Level :')

Which do you prefer: Science or Art?
I actually really enjoy both subjects but I have reasons for disliking both! Science is so fun with the experiments but also everything you learn and with Art you can get amazing outcomes by doing a simple method. But Science can get incredibly dull. I think I'll pick Art, despite my family being nowhere near art simply because I had the most amazing ART teacher in Year 11 and he was the best ever, let us make sculptures and helped me to get a Distinction in my Art BTEC (2 A's) Thank's Steve! (Plus he's a huge Transformers fan ^.^)

Name 5 albums/musical artists that have changed you life.
Now I adore music and I do in some cases believe music can 'save' and 'change' peoples lives depending on their situation. Like I have certain artists that pick up me up when I'm feeling down so I'll name a few.

The Candle Thieves - Literally all of their albums, they are an amazing acoustic group. I've spent the last year or so listening to them and even had the amazing pleasure of meeting them and also seeing them alive. My favorites would have to be 'Stars' and also 'Balloons #1, #2, #3'. So amazing!

The Blackout - Hope: Now I've also had the pleasure of seeing these amazing guys several times and also the pleasure of speaking to the 2 front men Gavin & Sean and they are the loveliest guys ever! Also this song well it doesn't mean a great deal to me, however it's a fab song. I think it's the title alone, 'Hope' just fills me with well... Hope.

My Chemical Romance - Man I feel like a loser admitting I like this band because everyone seems to dislike them now but I kinda had a hard time just as I got into my teenage years and well this was the band I would always listen to, back when they were in their 'emo' stage with The Black Parade I'd feel like, man I can do this because I have these guys and their music, so I'll be ok! I also got to see them in 2011 for the first time in February and again in August and wow, my inner 13 year old was screaming.

The Clash - Rock The Casbah: No word of a lie one of my favorite songs, on my first (yes illegal) night out this was playing and me and my best friend and boyfriend were all a little drunk in Spiders and we had such a good night and from that I remember this song so whenever I play I think back to that bight and think 'Wow I had such a good night, I never want to forget' it was honestly one of the best nights ever.

I can't actually think of anymore, it's quite hard because I have so many favorite bands and songs!

What were your favorite and least favorite subjects at school?
Like I said above I adored English and have always wanted a career in it! However I did dislike it at some points due to an awful teacher that pretty much hated my guts but I pretty much got straight A'd all the time so it wasn't all that bad! I also really enjoyed History, I never really told anyone but Hitler and World Wars 1 & 2 really did interest me! I hated Maths, I just found it so difficult, same with PE I'm just not a very fit person! I disliked it and was just way too lazy for my own good. Also in my last year of school I adored Art (when in my first few years I hated it!) simple because I had an amazing teacher and a pretty good work scheme because we looked at Controversial artists! Also another hate French! I was actually quite good at it, had a lovely teacher but I sucked at speaking it and also I just lacked motivation, it just got boring after spending all of high school doing it.

Who is your favorite celebrity with a brain?
Do the cast of Top gear count, I mean they always seem to be pretty smart on their challenges and they are hilarious. But I'll go ahead and say Stephen Fry because he never fails to make me laugh and he always seems to be there in the thick of everything and also he did some of the harry Potter audio books! Other them these I don't actually know what celebrities 'have brains' I'd like to say the actors of Gandalf and Dumbledore but I'm not too sure if their brainy.

What is your nerdy little secret?
My nerdy little secret, well I'm a bookworm, a gamer! I watch DVD's all the time and I actually love learning about 'different' religions such as Wicca and Paganism, I adore it. I haven't had chance to fully study But I do have a few books. I also adore how peoples brains work and what influence them, mainly serial killers. Yes morbid I know but imagine getting inside the mind of Hannibal 'the cannibal' Lecture! He seems so in control of himself all the time it's as if he's not insane at all. Also One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Girl Interrupted, need I say more?

Who are your favorite beauty/fashion gurus whom you admire more for than just their beauty/fashion sense?
Now this is kinda really hard because I don't know of many. However I adore Fearne Cotton, she has an amazing style but she's also really down to Earth and so gorgeous although people are mean to her. I also love Paloma faith, I know she isn't a fashion guru mainly because she's so wacky but that's what I love about her. She's so unique and individual that it draws me to her and I'm just like 'wow I wish I had the guts'. Also Dita Von Teese, she is amazingly gorgeous, beautiful and has the most amazing dress sense ever!

If you could study anything, anywhere, what and where would you study?
I would LOVE to study Psychology/Sociology in New York, seeing how all of these high business people work on a daily level every single day of the week. I would also love to study in London, with all the bust people and the busy streets. I also would love to study English in more depth rather then just for a teaching level! Also to me Law seems like something amazing to study but the amount of dedication people give ti it, I don't think I'd be able to cut it!

If your blog wasn't about beauty/fashion, what would it be about?
Mainly lifestyle! Me blabbing on about my life, what I've done each day, What books I've read and films I've seen. Endless lists of things I generally want or want to watch/read. It would be ever so personal with everything but view-able for the public. Also how amazing would a travel or cooking blog be? I wish I had the money seriously!

Name something you are obsessed with that other people would find nerdy?
God I love reading books and watching older films. I also love reading Japanese manga! But also I love EVERYTHING vintage not just clothes! Bikes, houses, places, furtniture, honestly everything it makes me so happy to see things about it. I also have a small weird obbession with history but more importantly vampires and Dracula, if I could go to Translevia or Romaina and study their history in depth on this subjects I would jump at the chance! I also adore Greek Mythology and the Ancient Egyptians!

Name 5 people, excluding friends and family, that inspire you.
Man this is actually a hard one because I'm not entirely sure on who inspires me.

Okay lets say, authors in general but over all JK Rowling and Stephen King. JK for the reason that after submitting the first draft of the Philosophers stone nearly 11 times (I think) to publishers and she finally got published and look where she is today, look what became of harry Potter!

Stephen King simply because he works and works and always produces the amazing fiction I read. Also after the near death experience he had, he just kept writing! Such dedication.

J.R.R Tolkien. What an amazing man! I mean he lives in the 20th century which meant there wasn't a lot of imagination around and things were pretty much shunned. Yet in this environment he managed to produce one of the biggest selling trilogies every that then turned into 3 amazing films. I think if he saw where he was today, which The Hobbit film coming out soon, he would be shocked.

Marilyn Monroe - I adore her, she was gorgeous and in her time 'a plus size mode' I think that took amazing amounts of guts for her. Yes she had her problems and they ended up killing her but in the end she was only human.

Who will you tag?
I tag each and every single one of my followers and readers. I love reading these posts by people so I please ask you to leave your posts (if you do it) in a comment below so I can have a nosy! I love reading about people so much, I bet you're all so interesting.

Also I hope you guys have all had a lovely Friday!

Book Review - The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

Well here goes. I've never been big on revewing books, not because I don't want to that is. First thing is, I read waaay to many books to even think of reviewing them all (I'm on my 26th this year already) but also my 'reviews' aren't always very proffessional, they want to be so much yet it's normally me just blabbing on about how much I love the book or what may be wrong with it, I really need to refine my reviewing skills.

But this book however I feel really does deserve a review.

One night in 1939, Josef Kavalier shuffles into his cousin Sam Clay’s cramped New York bedroom, his nerve-racking escape from Prague finally achieved. Little does he realise that this is the beginning of an extraordinary friendship and even more fruitful business partnership. Together, they create a comic strip called ‘The Escapist’, its superhero a Nazi-busting saviour who liberates the oppressed around the world. ‘The Escapist’ makes their fortune, but Joe can think of only one thing: how can he effect a real-life escape, and free his family from the tyranny of Hitler? In Joe Kavalier and Sam Clay, Michael Chabon has created two unforgettable characters bound together by love, family and cartoons.
First off I don't tend to read books containing bits of World War 2 in them I'm more of factual history person rather then fiction. But this one really took my fancy, it did involve Nazi Germany and the Second WW but it started off before the war even began but also this was about something completely different but the two subjects related well = COMIC BOOKS! And it wasn't set right in Nazi Germany or anywhere even near the war.

The book starts off with Josef Kavalier training as an escape artists when he was younger and finally using these skills to escape pre-war Prague and to me at first the book kind of seemed slow going or just a little bit uninteresting. At first I thought it was just going to be about these two character making a comic book and that was that. Or was it? It starts off as a small comic book bushiness, each one of them making quite a bit of money but a few twists and turns later and we're in the middle of the war with Kavalier and it's almost as if 'is he ever going to get home?' Out of all the books I've read this one stood out, it's not what I would normally read but if I quote The Daily Telegraph here "perfection" and it really was. I don't want to talk too much about the book in dept because I feel as if I would totally give away the story to anyone wanting to read it.

If anyone was looking for a fast paced book with characters with a lot of depth to them and of course escape artists  something I've never read about but now I want to look into so much more. I would recommend this book 10x over. Definitely a brilliant read for me, I would re-read it again in a heartbeat.

The Wonderful World of the Kindle!

So I've finally discovered the world of the Amazon Kindle, yes time and time again I've been asked by my parents if I want one at birthdays and Christmases because I'm an avid reader but I've always said no. There's nothing like the feel of a good thick book between my hands but recently I've thought differently on the whole subject. Although I like the feel of a book in my hands when reading I don't always like carrying around the huge thick ones I buy, then I thought of a kindle. I decided to test out my granddad's for the next month to get the hang of it.

Soon enough I fell in love with it. I mean I start college this September and in 2 years I hope to be on my way to attending university, which means I'm going to have to figure out a way to take my book collection with me! (It's totally too 100+ books now, eek!) Which is when I thought of the Kindle. You can take 1400+ books with you on the go, you can read it in daylight and dark but also it weights almost nothing! Then I looked at the downside of it, what happens to the books I already have? And also what if I want to buy a book but I also want it on my kindle?

I guess I decided that yes I will want one maybe later this year but also I can carry on buying books, just the special ones I want to keep. I have to admit I am blown away by the kindle, it sure is amazing, the brilliance of it and the actual idea of it is fantastic. I just wish they would find a way to put books you already own on to the Kindle so you can take them with you!

Also like everyone else currently, I've started reading Fifty Shades of Grey, well I actually haven't started the first page yet but I will be later on today. All I can say is my mum's read it and she enjoyed it, time to see what the big fuss is all about. I mean it can't be that special right, lots of people write erotica and are never known for it.
